Nausea. I’ve had nausea periodically throughout these 2-3 years of sickness. But these last few months have been particularly nausea-filled. To the point where I feel like I hate food. I hate it. I can’t comprehend that other people desire food, even enjoy food. I’ve only had one day in the last few months where I thought that I might maybe possibly sorta be hungry. And even then, the nausea never left.

Even the thought of food makes my stomach revolt. The smell? The sight? Ugh. I constantly feel like throwing up. Constantly. It doesn’t stop. There’s only worse and not worse. Laying in bed at the worst, begging over and over again, “God, please take the nausea away. God, please take the nausea away. God, please make the nausea go away.” for an hour straight.

There are worse symptoms to be sure. But this one really bothers me. Maybe you have constant nausea as well. If so, you have my deepest condolences.

Today, I want to share with you a few tips and ideas that have helped me, and if you have any to add, I’d love to hear them in the comments! There comes a point where you are desperate for anything that will help, am I right?

I mean, I’ve gotten to the point where I am crying over my meal (if it can be qualified as such). I know that my body needs food and that I have to eat. But it can be so hard. It gets to the point where you dread every meal. And when that is the only thing that breaks up the days when you spend most of it in bed…. well, it can get pretty depressing, pretty fast. Hopefully, some of these ideas can help!

8 Tips For Dealing With Constant Nausea

  1. Sparkling water. This has helped me take the edge off of the nausea, and I’ve started drinking it right before trying to force down a meal. My doctor says that the reason it is helping is because it moves things around and breaks apart gunk, making it easier to digest, and preventing it from sitting.
  2. For the reason above, just getting up and walking sometimes helps (although sometimes it makes it worse if the cause for nausea is different).
  3. Rubbing my abdomen in a clockwise direction can also work wonders. It
  4. 20180319_123508 doesn’t always help a whole lot, but it can take the edge off, and it’s easy to do.
  5. Taking salt can also help. I know that salt is controversial, but just letting it roll around in my mouth until is dissolves helps a lot sometimes. We use Real Salt, as seen here.
  6. I’ve also been told that putting peppermint essential oil on your abdomen (with a carrier oil, of course) can help. It had helped me some, but not as much as I had hoped. There are also oil blends that they sell specifically for digestion, and they have helped me a lot in the past. It really depends on the cause of the nausea
  7. Another thing I’ve noticed is that if I try to procrastinate eating meals an hour or so from my usual time, it makes my nausea worse when I do eat. I imagine this will be different for everyone, but if you can find what works best for you, that will probably help a lot! So experiment. 😉
  8. Distract yourself if you need to. Sometimes, it just helps to watch a movie or read a book and try to ignore the nausea as best you can while you try to eat. Don’t dwell on the fact that you hate food. It won’t help anything.
  9. Finally, I also take various enzymes, but what my body needs varies, so I won’t try to put it here… because I’m guessing you are the same. You might experiment when them, though, or ask your doctor.
