Esther Smith wrote a book titled, “But God, Wouldn’t I Be More Useful To You If I Were Healthy?” and even though I have yet to read it, even the title resonated on a deep level. One of the hardest things about having a chronic illness was feeling like I was alone. But another close one was feeling . . . . purposeless. Maybe you relate.

Chronic illness means that we can’t serve in the same way everyone else can. It means relying on God’s grace, growing in creativiey, and working through shame and pride.

Surely I’m not the only one! In 2021, I taught I Diamonds conference session on how to serve God when you’re chronically ill, sharing the things I’ve learned over the years as serving despite — and sometimes because of — my own chronic illness.

This is meant to be a battle cry and a compassionate comfort at the same time.

Because warriors, God is not done with us. And we are not purposeless. Yet I know it is hard.

So I want to give you a gift.

Usually, my session is only availible when you purchase the all access pass. But I want to gift you this single session as an encouragement for you.
